theory of change
Rural North Carolina isn't short on anger. It's short on trust. Three working-class mothers are building trust the hard way – neighbor by neighbor – and turning it into political wins the people in power didn't see coming.
In the wake of the 2024 election, Nicole, Dolly, and Shikara put one wager into practice in their rural counties: that working people, organizing year-round across race and politics, can build the power to win real improvements for their communities.
Alongside Down Home NC, the member-led group working to build a democracy that fairly represents all North Carolinians, they knock doors, protest school budget cuts, lead mutual aid work, and fight to protect 65,000 votes that could decide who holds the power in North Carolina for decades to come.
